Suldouro, an urban solid waste treatment company from Vila Nova de Gaia, recently renovated its structured network with a ModSecur Networking solution engineered by Maxiglobal. There was an addition of cameras in the CCTV system, in accordance with the Client’s requirements, a work that was in line with that of the structured network.
Suldouro is a reference company in the waste sector, valuing the quality of the service it provides, ensuring that the waste produced is used as a resource or sent to the most appropriate destination, through effective and innovative processes. The need to renew the structured network was felt through “constant connectivity interruptions at different points of the installation. We had a structured network that had been in use for several years and that varied in terms of cabling. The aim of this project was to renovate and create a uniform, more reliable and more stable structure”, says Tiago Almeida, Responsible for Information Systems at Suldouro.
Infrastructure suited to daily challenges
Maxiglobal analyzed in detail the state of the infrastructure and the possible cable trays taking into account the existing space. Maxiglobal presented the most suitable solution to respond to existing needs, also suggesting some actions with a view to better performance. Therefore, the project consisted of the following points: removal of the old cabling, removal of the existing gutter, removal of network and electrical outlets, installation of standardized cabling and technical gutter in several rooms, installation of network outlets and electrical outlets, reorganization of network cables in the rack and installation of a video surveillance system (CCTV).
Restructuring the cabling was a priority for Suldouro, as the existing structure had constraints on the data communication network and no longer responded to daily needs. The structured cabling of the administrative building was renovated and extended to support the CCTV system.
Goals achieved: stability, speed and high performance
“This was a challenging project, mainly due to the issue of time constraints. However, we were always active. Throughout the implementation, there was no need for us to interrupt our normal operation. The Maxiglobal team was available to schedule interventions that would inevitably cause an impact for “out of hours” periods or weekends”, adds Tiago Almeida.
The benefits of this installation are notorious. “Now we have a network category standardization in the intervened areas and we verify daily that the network is much more stable. People work smoothly and with speed, which is great”.
Successful partnership
Maxiglobal was already known to Suldouro, having had successful collaborations in the past. In addition to this factor, the company’s reputation in the market and competitive prices also contributed to its being chosen to implement this restructuring. Upon completion of the project, Suldouro highlights “the great professionalism and technical knowledge of the Maxiglobal team”. From the commercial scope to work on the “field”, there was a “great collaboration with Suldouro and an excellent adaptation to the needs presented”, concludes Tiago Almeida.
